As we get older, fond memories are often all we have left of our past. It’s rare when we get to relive and relish those good times with family, friends, and good food.

Growing up in Itawamba County during the early 80’s, I spent a lot of time meeting up with friends for barbecue, burgers, and fries, while planning our next big adventure. At the time, Coleman’s Bar-B-Q in Fulton, MS was the perfect place for an early breakfast to a late night Barbecue plate.
The smell of bbq from the smoke stacks would seemingly bring folks in from miles, and the mouthwatering taste would keep us coming back for more.

Now, 40 years later, what once was 163 locations across the Mid-South is now a single restaurant in Senatobia, MS owned by the Coleman family, store #9.
Although it’s the last remaining Coleman’s Bar-B-Q restaurant, its popularity is unwavering in its hometown of Senatobia and surrounding areas! During my visit, there was a steady stream of folks ordering menu favorites that many of us haven’t enjoyed in quite a while.
So what did I order? All the longtime best sellers pictured in the front windows, reminding passersby to stop here, sit a spell, and eat with us.
🔥Rib Plate
🔥Jumbo Bar-B-Q
🔥Jumbo Cheeseburger
🔥Breakfast
The Rib Plate can be ordered wet or dry and comes with two sides. My plate had 7 bones covered in Coleman’s delicious Bar-Q sauce. The meat was slightly firm with the meat and sauce complimenting each other nicely.

For my two sides I chose their iconic baked beans and potato salad. The beans had a tangy flavor with bits of meat mixed in. The potato salad was premade but extremely delicious! My first bite included a nice piece of boiled egg white which is always a plus in my book.
The Jumbo Bar-B-Q with fries is what many fond memories are made of. The sandwich was piled high with nicely pulled pork topped with coleslaw and drenched with Coleman’s special sauce.
The Jumbo Cheeseburger consists of two beef patties and your choice of toppings. I was told that dozens of sources were considered before selecting the patties used to represent Coleman’s famous cheeseburger on their menu.
Each bite of the jumbo burger was definitely a mouthful, and with the onion rings as my side, you may want to schedule a little siesta afterwards to savor the experience.

For a taste of Coleman’s breakfast offerings, it was suggested I try their famous sausage rolls.
I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect but it’s actually quite simple. It’s thin cut, grilled crispy sausage patties on a dinner roll, topped with coleslaw and mustard. Ya’ll, this was surprisingly delicious! It’s like one of the best sliders I’ve ever had. One of the other customers sitting near me said that he has ordered many of them with slightly different toppings.

I recently posted a video about Coleman’s and spoke with several customers and their past experiences:
“Eat here for breakfast every Saturday we are home! Sausage on a roll with coleslaw and mustard is the bomb!” Sheena E.
“I met my husband at Coleman’s BBQ in Booneville , MS. We are going to celebrate our 50th Anniversary next year! We may need to celebrate at Coleman’s!” Bonnie W.
“I had no idea there were any left. THANK YOU!!! A road trip is in the near future!” Jo V.
“Senatobia resident here 🙋♀️ BBQ salad is one of my favorites!!” Crystal P.
“Beans! I loved their beans.😍” Kerry F.
“Everything is delicious and freshly made! So glad that Kim Coleman is carrying on this legacy!” Sybil C.
That was just a taste of what folks have been saying about Coleman’s Bar-B-Que and the fond memories associated with this iconic restaurant.
