Since 1996, this quintessential all American drive-in has been one of the most popular restaurants in Columbus, Mississippi. Their most sought after menu items include hand-pattied burgers, Mississippi farm-raised catfish, sandwiches, sides, plate lunches, house prepared appetizers, and MORE!

The drive-in’s atmosphere is just as impressive as its food. With its retro vibe and friendly staff, it’s the perfect place to take the family for a fun and delicious meal. And if you’re in a hurry, you can always take advantage of their convenient drive-thru service.

During my visit, the eatery was packed with locals on a lunch break, enjoying the daily plate lunch specials, and made-from-scratch menu items.

With just a quick stroll through the restaurant, I found many awards for the best family restaurant, plate lunch, and best hamburgers in the Golden Triangle!

The menu was extensive, with a variety of options. I first decided to try one of their famous plate lunch specials, which included a hearty serving of hamburger steak with gravy & onion, field peas, creamed corn, and banana pudding. The meal was comforting food at its finest. I could see why this place was a favorite among the locals.

The cheese sticks were freshly hand-cut, enveloped in crunchy deep-fried batter, and generously sized. The cheese itself had an impeccable texture and flavor – passing the “pull test” with flying colors!

The hand battered onion rings were absolutely delicious. With a perfectly crispy exterior and a tender, sweet onion center, these were a true delight, whether as a side dish or an appetizer, they are sure to satisfy your cravings and leave you wanting more.

Doug’s Burger is a mouth-watering masterpiece, crafted to perfection with a blend of chuck, brisket, and short rib beef. Served on a sourdough bun with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and comeback sauce, this burger is a prime example of their award-winning menu.

During my visit, the staff were very attentive and accommodating, and it was clear that they took pride in their work. I would highly recommend Doug & Hazel’s Drive-In to anyone. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic burger or a home-cooked plate lunch, this place has something for everyone to enjoy! Happy trails!!
