Have you ever passed by a place so many times and wondered what it was like? Then, one day you take the time to stop and discover what you’ve been missing!

You walk in the small metal building and see chocolates, cakes, cookies, and other confections along the walls and overflowing glass cases. They also bake their own breads plus a lunch menu of soups, sandwiches, salads, fruits, and some fine German cuisine.

Cakes are sold whole or by the slice.

The Schnitzel is pan-fried pork tenderloin with a spicy mustard sauce and lettuce. It was a delicious sandwich from the fresh bread to the golden crusted tenderloin.

Both salads include fresh made chicken salad. My wife had the two scoops with crackers and toast.

My Summer Salad had the same delicious chicken mixture, but with mandarin oranges, sliced strawberries, and almond slivers. I believe the dressing was a poppyseed vinaigrette. It had a nice tangy flavor that paired well with the fruit.

Now for DESSERT! I would have loved to try a bite of every item they had in stock, which is a lot. Have you ever had a dessert call your name? Out of the entire bakery, my focus was drawn to the front case with the Blueberry Torte and for the wife, a thick slice of coconut cake.

The Blueberry Torte is one of my all time favorites! The tartness of the blueberries pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the torte, creating a delicious flavor combination that is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

The Torte was so good that it makes you go “Mmmm” and think of words like scrumptious and gratifying…yeah, that good!

The coconut cake is one of their big sellers. In fact, not soon after getting our one slice, another customer bought what was left of the entire cake! It’s no wonder, with its sweet and rich flavor. The texture is moist and fluffy, making it a perfect dessert for any occasion.

The owner, Margarete, told me that she doesn’t use social media. She has always relied on word of mouth advertising. And when the train passes by her bakery, stopping traffic, sometimes they would take the folks waiting in line a few treats to pass the time.
