Small town atmosphere, big time taste is what youâll find at Shermanâs own Big R Drive In. They are locally famous for their homemade burgers, Philly Steak sandwichâs, sides and more!
Once you exit Hwy 78 to Sherman, youâll see the Wild Billâs service station on the left and a small billboard on the right pointing you to the Big R Drive In. Just cross the train tracks, proceed to the first stop sign, and you will have arrived at your destination!
The Big R is housed in a small gun shack building, overshadowed by the community water tower. It has a Drive thru window, but also ample seating inside for several guests.
They have a fairly large menu to choose from, but I decided to order just a few of their best sellers.

Their burger patties are about a quarter pound each and addictive! I ordered the double cheeseburger, dressed with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. When biting into the burger, it was just big enough that I could barely get it all in for a full bite. Whither you prefer a single, double, with or without bacon, youâve got to try this burger!!!
The Philly Cheesesteak is loaded with what counts! It is full of Philly meat, topped with grilled peppers , onions, and drenched in melted cheese. This sandwich is tender, juicy, and full of flavor! You can dress it up however you like to make it your own!
The onion rings are battered and cooked special for each order. They have that look and texture that is as pleasing to admire as to devour!
Another side that should be on your âto tryâ list is their Fried Pickles! Tangy, salty, with just a little crunch, is what this side will add to any sandwich or entree. Request some ranch for a little dip before each bite!
Most of their deserts are homemade and can be bought by the slice, or order one whole. My Reeces pie was even more decadent and delicious than it looks! Youâll be buying extra just to take home for later! I definitely considered it!!
With Sherman and the Big R Drive In only minutes away from Tupelo, yâall should definitely make the trip and give them a try! You can view their menu in advance for a Drive thru pick up, or dine in for the full home town experience!
