At the core of it all are freshly prepared meats, homemade sides, and award-winning restaurant owners who have relocated their operations from California to West Point.

While living in California, married couple and business partners, Mary and chef Adnan Hanania, were honored by Yelp as a top-rated Mediterranean Deli and one of the Top 100 restaurants in America to visit.

In 2023, the couple made the decision to return to Mary’s hometown of West Point, MS, bringing with them all the secret ingredients, special recipes, and expertise that led to their menu gaining national recognition.

Some of the most popular menu items offered are the Chefā€™s made-to-order sandwiches with roast beef and pastrami that are cooked fresh daily, plus Shawarma Chicken, and carefully seasoned ground beef burgers. They also offer many plate combinations with sides and salad fixings to complement most any meal or vegetarian diet.

Menu showcase:

šŸ”„ Reuben – fresh pastrami, Thousand Island dressing, sauerkraut on marble rye bread. My wife is something of a Reuben connoisseur and also gave it her seal of approval!

šŸ”„ Philly Cheese Steak – fresh prepared roast beef, cheese, grilled bell peppers, onions on a French roll. This is a good sandwich to start with if youā€™re new or unfamiliar with the menu, as is their roast beef sandwich.

šŸ”„ Cheeseburger – itā€™s made using half pound of fresh ground beef with Big Hā€™s special blend of spices topped with grilled onions melted cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomato, and mayo on a heated bun. Or dress to your liking.

šŸ”„ Spicy Chicken Shawarma plate – I chose to have rice as my base vs lettuce, topped with tzatziki sauce. Either in a sandwich or plate, the Chicken Shawarma is probably their signature dish. A definite must try!

šŸ”„ For sides I requested homemade baked potato salad, summer corn salad, and a type of marinated salad. All were extremely fresh and went perfectly with my plate.

šŸ° Baklava – pure homemade deliciousness!

The meats for the Reuben and Philly were sliced thin and pilled extremely high with all the toppings blending perfectly. I also got a couple slices of just the roast beef to sample and it was juicy and very flavorful.

The burger had both the WOW and Mmmm factors. The patty weighed around 8 ounces and had a delightful char on the outside that gave it that little crunch we all love. Moreover, the beef had the Big H secret blend of spices infused into each bite, adding an extra layer of flavor to enjoy. And all that melted cheese and grilled onions just took it to a whole new level.

With the Chicken Shawarma you can choose spicy or non-spicy. I made a plate of mine with rice and went spicy. Their spices definitely bring the heat with each bite, but not so much that it brought any tears, but close. Yaā€™ll, the Chicken Shawarma plate wasnā€™t only delicious, but along with the fresh-made sides lasted about 3 meals!

I weighed the plate at home and it was close to three pounds of food. This wasnā€™t including the portion I already ate or the bread!

I absolutely love locally owned restaurants like Big H on 45. I had actually passed by before and didnā€™t realize it was there until a reader asked me to check them out. Thanks Dylan!!
