Sim’s Soul Cookin’ is a family owned and operated restaurant that is a little off the beaten path on the South side of Tupelo. It’s just a small brick building with a couple old wood benches out front.

If you’re not already familiar with them, you’d probably drive by without even noticing. But once inside your get a sense of family and a cozy dining atmosphere.

They offer ribs, catfish, whiting, and much more. But just to give y’all a taste of their attention to detail I went with a few of Sim’s specialties.

What I ordered:
🔥Cheeseburger
🔥Fried Green Tomatoes
🔥Baked beans with meat
🔥Crinkle Fries with seasoning

The hand patted burger was incredibly thick, juicy, and delicious, with a lightly toasted bun. It was so large that I almost couldn’t take a full bite! The meat patty seemed to weigh at least half a pound and was perfectly seasoned. This burger definitely deserves to be ranked among Tupelo’s best!

As a side or an appetizer, the fried green tomatoes are freakin’ awesome! They are sliced extremely thin with breading that holds together well, but doesn’t completely steal the show. Pair them with Sim’s house made remoulade sauce for the win!!

For an actual side, the house made baked beans were quite tangy with added hamburger meat, small bits of either hotdog or sausage, plus a little onion mixed in. It’s the kinda baked beans that could be considered more of a meal than a side dish!

I’m not sleeping on the fries either. I know some folks dismiss crinkle fries, but I like them if done right. And Sim’s knows exactly what I mean by done right! Almost every fry has a little bit of crispy crunch and well seasoned. Now that’s attention to detail!

Sim’s Soul Cookin’ is one of those places that once you give them a try, you’ll definitely be planning more visits sooner than later. Be sure to tell the crew that I recommend you! Happy Trails!!

Everyone’s taste is different. My goal is to give you a glimpse of what I see and experience so you can judge for yourselves if the atmosphere and menu are right for you.
