The Blue Canoe, a hidden gem nestled on a hill, is a local favorite that has stood the test of time. It has been a go-to spot for many who are seeking a laid-back atmosphere, great food, live entertainment, and a memorable experience. DThey offer hundreds of beer brands, reimagined country food with a delicious twist, and so much more!

I’ve enjoyed everything from their huge specialty burgers, pasta, wings, and seafood, but for this story I’m focusing on three of my all time favorites:

🔥Pork & Greens
🔥Fried Black Eyed Peas
🔥 Connie’s Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding

The Fried Black Eyed Peas are lightly fried and tossed with old bay seasoning. It comes in a Mason jar topped with bacon and a side of sweet relish. Now, their is no right or wrong way to eat this, you can pour some peas on the plate and then mix some relish in with it or my favorite is to scoop a bit relish then peas for a perfect bite!

I’ve probably ate pounds of peas during my lifetime, but I’ve never had any as unique as this! Each pea has a gentle crunch, and when the saltiness of the spice and sweetness of the relish combine…well, it’s kinda a light bulb moment, it’s genius!!!

For my main course the Pork & Greens are slow beer braised pulled pork kissed with a Carolina style barbecue sauce and their “kickin” greens served over a huge pile of cheesy grits. Let me start with this…I’d never ate greens, never liked the thought of eating greens, BUT…because the greens are sautĂ©ed and infused with such a unique tangy ness, it was a perfect compliment.

For desert, the Connie’s Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding is not only a local favorite, but has also been named Best Desert 5 times in MS Magazine! The blueberry donuts from Connie’s Restaurant in Tupelo used instead of bread, plus loads of creamy topping and overflowing blueberry sauce is an award winning combination!!

When visiting the Blue Canoe, you’ll experience delicious food, big helpings, great service, all in a relaxed atmosphere…Good Mood Food!
