The Local House is owned by Robby and Sonya Witcher of Saltillo, along with other family. They were the original owners of Old Town Steakhouse in Saltillo and say, “We hope to bring back the same great service along with some of your favorites!”

The new restaurant offers plate lunches, burgers, wings, pizza, fish, shrimp, steak, a salad bar, Po boy sandwiches, beer, drinks, and more!

The front room has plenty of seating with a variety of table options for different sized groups. Perfect for a quick lunch or family meal. The bar room is more intimate and gives a slightly different vibe for those wanting to relax and enjoy the laid back atmosphere.

Menu Showcase:
🔥Sausage & Cheese Platter – This shareable appetizer is loaded with slices of grilled sausage, Colby cheese, and sliced pepperoncini peppers. If you’re having trouble deciding on a starter then this is an ideal choice! It was extremely savory and I had enough left over to carry home for snacks later.

🔥Shrimp and grits – The jalapeño cheese grits were made in house and served with a generous helping of plump shrimp that were fully shelled and deveined. The dish was then drenched in a tomato bacon gravy, and garnished with a few slices of stewed cherry tomatoes. The gravy had a very mild flavor compared to the burst of tanginess from the tomatoes. This was a very hardy entrĂ©e and its combination of flavors and textures really made it pop!

With my appetizer and Shrimp & Grits, I ordered a Hurricane mixed drink from the bar. It was festive and paired really well with both.

🔥Hamburger Steak – I had this as a plate lunch. This is a pretty huge 10 once patty with gravy and onions. The patty was seasoned well and juicy, as shown in the cutaway photo, plus completely drenched with the toppings. For my two included sides I went with the Mac & Cheese (creamy and piled high) and fried squash. They did an excellent job preparing the squash. It wasn’t over cooked and had a well seasoned crispy crust.

With the plate lunches, a drink and dessert are included. My slice of pecan pie was about as good as I’ve ever hade.

I was sent a message recently about how good this place was and that I should try it out. I’m always happy to get your recommendations. This is how I discover many new restaurants and old favorites.

When you visit The Local House, tell us in the comments what you enjoyed the most. I can’t wait to try their burger. The menu says they use a 10 once patty like the Hamburger Steak, so it’s gotta be huge!

Go try them out for yourself soon and tell the crew that I recommend you! Happy trails!!
