Driskills Fish & Steak is a locally owned restaurant that serves the finest U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish, Certified Hereford Beef Ribeye Steaks, and a variety of appetizers made in-house and deep fried to perfection. In addition to these crowd favorites, they also offer an array of mouth-watering sides to accompany your entrée, and a massive salad bar that is loaded with an assortment of delicious toppings.

As you drive through the small town of Plantersville, located just south of Tupelo, you won’t miss the striking blue building and vast parking lot of The Driskill’s Fish & Steak. If you see a multitude of cars parked outside, don’t fret – the restaurant has four dining rooms that can accommodate large groups and special events.

As soon as you walk in, you’ll be transported to the Wild West with wagon wheel chandeliers, wooden walls, and antique decor. Don’t forget to take your little ones for a ride on Sandy, the “quarter” horse!

All of my appetizers and onion rings were prepared in house using Driskills time tested ingredients including their house buttermilk blend, seasoned flour, and seasoned corn mill blend.

The onion rings, pickles, and fried green tomatoes were all sliced thin and paired with house made ranch dressing. For my preference, thin slices are definitely the way to go! You want to take your time and savor every bite!
The Fried Cheese Sticks were hand carved Mozzarella cheese dipped in their house blend buttermilk, seasoned flour, and deep fried. They passed the “pull test” with flying colors and were absolutely decadent when dunked in the marinara sauce.
The salad bar as a side or main course is always a great choice! They offer shredded lettuce, hard boiled eggs, and a garden full of fresh toppings to choose from.
For the Scrap Plate, you get a good taste of steak, shrimp, and catfish.

Driskills’ Hereford beef ribeye steaks are highly coveted for their exceptional quality. This particular cut of beef is famous for its exquisite tenderness, rich flavor, marbling, and smooth, buttery texture. The 8 oz steak is marinated and thinly sliced to create a large circumference. Despite its thinness, my steak was cooked to perfection at medium doneness. It was no easy feat, but the result was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The marinade had a subtle flavor that complemented the Hereford beef’s natural taste, allowing it to shine through.
By default, the Sample Platter comes with a catfish filet, but the restaurant was kind enough to fulfill my request for a whole fried catfish. The fish was consistently mild with a meaty texture that perfectly absorbed other flavors. As per my tradition, I added a squeeze of fresh lemon and a dollop of sauce. To elevate the experience further, Driskills’ offered their house-prepared tartar sauce, which made every bite an absolute delight.
Whenever shrimp is available with steak, I always order it. Driskills offer huge hand-breaded butterfly shrimp that are absolutely delicious! Although the Scrap Plate comes with only three, I am tempted to order a plate full of them during my next visit – they were that good!!
If you’re looking for a great meal and warm hospitality, Driskills Fish & Steak is the place to be. For over a decade, friends and family have been gathering here to enjoy the menu and each other’s company. Stop by and see for yourself, and don’t forget to let the crew know who sent you. Happy Trails!
