This isn’t the owners’ first rodeo.  Guy and Martha Jenkins have both been in and around the restaurant industry for many decades.  In the past they’ve opened local restaurants including Romie’s and Gloster 205 before moving on to other adventures.

The dynamic duo brings the same level of deliciousness from years of experience to their new menu.  Any weekday you may enjoy one of their super sandwiches, homemade salads with house made dressings, their famous deviled eggs, or hot Blue Plate of the day.

The Friday Blue Plate was two golden fried catfish filets with a bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce, deviled eggs, coleslaw, and garlic bread (other bread available).

Offering delicious fried catfish with spaghetti topped with meat sauce has been a Southern tradition for generations. The delicious combination of catfish fillets and spaghetti is a culinary delight that melds rich, savory flavors with a satisfying texture.

The catfish fillets, lightly seasoned and fried to a golden brown, offered a tender and flaky bite that pairs beautifully with the al dente spaghetti. The pasta, topped with a zesty tomato sauce mixed with finely ground beef, complements the mild sweetness of the catfish, creating a harmonious blend of taste and aroma.

Their delicious chicken salad, made in-house, can be ordered as a sandwich or on a plate, original version or Waldorf with grapes and pecans. I went with the Waldorf on a croissant.  Plus, a side of homemade potato salad with egg is a must!

My grilled cheese came panini pressed with  American and Gouda cheese, plus I added a bowl of tomato basil soup.  The grilled cheese was good, but the tomato basil soup was pure awesomeness!

The tomato basil soup was a vibrant dish that combined the rich, tangy flavors of ripe tomatoes with the fragrant, sweetness of fresh basil. It had a velvety texture, achieved by blending the tomatoes until they reach a creamy consistency.  It was finished with a drizzle of cream and a sprinkle of basil.  It was visually appealing with its deep red hue, and irresistibly aromatic. It was a perfect pairing with my grilled cheese sandwich, making it an ideal choice for a cozy, satisfying meal.

Don’t forget dessert.  Either eat in or get some to go.  I’ve had a lot of banana pudding in my years, but there was something a little extra savory this time.  When scooping around the edges, it reminded me a little of Cream Brulé.  Just seemed like an extra hint of richness.

This is a true mom-and-pop locally owned restaurant. The family can be seen visiting with guests to ensure everyone has a wonderful meal and enjoyable experience.

Everyone’s taste is different.  My goal is to give you a glimpse of what I see and experience so you can judge for yourselves if the atmosphere and menu are right for you. So when you visit, be sure to tell the crew I recommended you.  Happy Trails!!
