When you want fresh, you go to the source. Native Son Farm is Mississippi’s largest certified naturally grown, CSA farm, free of chemicals and toxins.
It’s strawberry season at Native Son Farm! Strawberries are only sold the same day they are harvested. Usually on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, weather permitting. Strawberry pies, cobblers, tarts and cookies are prepared for sale Wednesdays and Fridays While fresh strawberries are available.
On any given day, you may find fresh vegetables, fruit, and a wide variety of baked goods, including breads, muffins, scones, and cookies.
Locally sourced milk and cheeses from Southern Cultured Creamery in Pontotoc are also available for purchase from Native Son Farm, as well as antibiotic-free, pasture-raised beef and pork from Home Place Pastures. Veggie Burger patties are also available.
During this trip I purchased a Strawberry Tart, a Sausage Kolache, and chocolate chip cookie. I believe the cookies were $3 and were as big as my hand. Just one with a glass of milk or cup of coffee would be a full meal.
The Tart was so beautiful that it didn’t even look real. But believe me, once I bite into the fresh berries, cream, and crispy crust, I can confirm that they are definitely real and definitely delicious! They are made in limited quantities because they are so labor intensive. They make a nice centerpiece dessert or sweet treat for any special occasion. Cost was $25.
The Sausage Kolache was warmed before I dug in. It had a tasty slice of sausage in the middle along with I believe a little shredded cheese and mustard. It was very savory and satisfying.

People drive hundreds of miles for our berries for a couple of reasons-we grow old fashioned varieties, we use only organic management practices (no fungicides, synthetic pesticides, herbicides or soil fumigants) we pick them dead ripe and sell them within hours of being picked.
