Bar-B-Que by Jim- Tupelo, MS

Bar-B-Que by Jim @ 203, Commerce Street, Tupelo, MS. Next to the Bus Stop & across from Cadence Bank Arena. Open Monday- Wednesday 11-2, Thursday & Friday 11-6. 📞 662-840-8800

👇 MENU at the bottom of page 👇

Bar-B-Que by Jim has been serving the Tupelo area for almost 3 decades. They have daily blue plate specials for a quick work lunch, a full menu with all their specialties, and delivery options.

The Beane family also own the Bus Stop venue next door. It is most famous for hosting events during the Tupelo Elvis Festival, but is also perfect for most any event or special occasion. Tables, tv, and other extras included.

I got to talk with Jim and his family to learn of their future plans, dispel some rumors, and indulge in a few of their signature menu items.

The main rumor I wanted to get straight is that they are not closed. Their Facebook page hasn’t been updated since 2023 due to technical difficulties that they are now trying to get resolved. You can still call or visit for questions or contact co-owner Barbra Beane on her page.

Jim, who is in his 70’s, confirmed that the restaurant is for sale but will continue operating till new owners take over. So if you’re in the market for a locally iconic restaurant with a built in customer base, you should definitely drop by and get the details.

Menu Showcase:

🔥BBQ Nachos

🔥Quarter Rib Plate

🔥Jumbo BBQ sandwich (slaw on the side)

🔥Onion Rings

🔥Homemade Baked Beans

🔥Slaw

🔥Lemon Crunch signature dessert

Both the sandwich and nachos have Jim’s signature slow cooked pulled pork piled high on each. The nachos also have a generous layer of cheese, sauce, and jalapeños on request. Bottles of Jim’s mild bbq sauce are available when eating in to adjust to your preference.

The ribs have a nice char on the outside which is mostly due to the heating of the sugar used in the rub. Once you separate the ribs and take a bite, you get to experience the tender meat and full sweet and savory flavors that have had Bar-B-Que by Jim customers coming back for decades!

When choosing some sides, my two favorites are the onion rings shaved extremely thin and the baked beans with bbq meat and cut up hot dogs. You could make a meal just on the sides!

For a dessert their signature Lemon Crunch is definitely a crowd pleaser! Even if you’re too full for dessert, get some for later. You may regret not having dessert, but I’ve NEVER regretted getting dessert…just saying.

Everyone’s taste is different. My goal is to give you a glimpse of what I see and experience so you can judge for yourselves if the atmosphere and menu are right for you. So when you visit, be sure to tell the crew I recommended you. Happy Trails!!
